Ministry Outreach

The Dominican Sisters continue to seek support for their sisters who go out to serve God’s people, often in jobs with little or no pay. They choose many diverse fields to advance the mission of the Church, without thought to salaries or stipends. They can only continue to do this through Faith and the generosity of their donors. The salaries brought in are no longer sufficient to support the retired sisters.

Your contribution is tax deductible. The Dominican Sisters, of St. Mary of the Springs, Columbus, Ohio, are a 501 (c)(3) organization. You may designate the specific ministry you wish to support or allow the sisters to use where they see the most need.

Following the Dominican Charism

The charism of a religious congregation can be understood as a lens through which the unique contribution of the group to the work of the Church can be seen. Different orders have different charisms. The Dominican charism is to go forth and preach. St. Dominic envisioned itinerant “friars in the marketplace” rather than in the monastery. It was a unique concept in his time.

Today the Dominican Sisters are in the “marketplace” preaching through a wide array of ministries unique to the gifts of the individual sisters who choose them. They continue to transition into different ministries throughout their life seeking new ways to best serve God’s people. Many continue to serve well past traditional retirement age.
