Sr. Theresa Haysler (Sr. Mary Carl) died June 12, 2002, in Mount Carmel
East Hospital.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Genolia (Rech), Theresa graduated
from Catholic Central High School in her native Steubenville.
She entered the Novitiate in 1945 and made Final Profession in 1950.
After Profession, she earned a B.S. in Education from the College of St.
Mary of the Springs. For 32 years, she taught in elementary schools in
New York, Connecticut, Michi-gan, Pennsylvania, and in Ohio.
Sister felt a special call to fulfill the Community Directive: “To
work with and for the poor, especially the materially poor.”
She served in outreach programs on the parish level serving the poor
and needy.
Pre-deceased by her brothers Thomas and Alwin and sister Elizabeth (Dunn),
all of Steubenville, she is survived by brother George and his wife Mary
of New Philadelphia and by many devoted nieces and nephews.
