Teresa Litzinger, OP
June 12, 1910 – December 22, 2003

On Monday, December 22, 2003, Sr. Teresa Litzinger died at Mohun Health
Care Center. Sr. Teresa was born in Somerset, OH, on June 12, 1910, to
Harry and Mary (Snider) Litzinger. She is survived by two sisters, Dominican
Sister Maura Litzinger and Margaret (Leo) Clark of Somerset, and many
nieces and nephews. Sister attended Holy Trinity Elementary and High Schools
in Somerset and received her BS in Secondary Education from St. Mary of
the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University). In 1928 she came
to the Dominican Novitiate in Columbus, Ohio, and made her Profession
of Vows in 1930.
Sr. Teresa's teaching ministry in the Columbus Diocese included Sacred
Heart Coshocton (1933-34, 1968-72), St. Thomas Aquinas Zanesville (1934-37,
1938-39, 1957-58), Holy Name Columbus (1962-63), and St. Francis de Sales
Newark (1972-73). In addition, Sr. Teresa taught many years in Steubenville
and Marietta in Ohio and in Braddock, Wilmerding, East Pittsburgh and
Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Sister served as a records clerk at Mohun
Health Care Center (1973-84), as receptionist at St. Vincent Ferrer New
York (1984-90) and at St. James the Less Columbus (1990-97) before retiring
to the Motherhouse and Mohun in 1997.
