Sr. Mary Vesta McGough, OP

December 31, 1936 – March 22, 2003

I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I shall live.

Sister Mary Vesta McGough died on Saturday, March 22, 2003, after a short illness, at Christ the King Convent in Columbus. Sister Mary Vesta spent the last 23 years in ministry at Christ the King School. She was a primary teacher and is remembered by many of the parishioners there.

Sister attended both St. Thomas Grade School and High School in Braddock, PA. After graduation in 1954, she entered the novitiate at St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus, OH. She was an alumna of St. Mary of the Springs College and devoted 42 years of her life to teaching, in Lancaster in 1958 and in St. Francis Newark in 1964. She also taught in Pittsburgh, Steubenville and Brooklyn, NY.

Sister is survived by her sister Sister Joan McGough, OP who cared for her final illness, and by her sisters Patricia Flodine and Rosemary Holmes, and a brother John McGough, Jr. Patricia, Rosemary and John all reside in the Pittsburgh area. Sister Mary Vesta has many nieces and nephews.
