Sr.
Grace Beck, OP
July 27, 1933 – July 7, 2004
I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I shall live.
Psalm 23
On Wednesday, July 7, Sr. Grace Beck (formerly Sr. Constantine) died
unexpectedly in Braddock, PA.
Born in Allison Park, PA, the daughter of Roman J. and Marie (Kappeler)
Beck on July 27, 1933, she entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters
of St. Mary of the Springs in 1951, and made her profession of vows in
1953. She earned a BS from the College of St. Mary of the Springs (now
Ohio Dominican University), and an MA from Providence College.
On the occasion of her 50th Jubilee last year, Sr. Grace Beck shared
that the cause most dear to her heart was educating children; she dedicated
her life to education as teacher, principal and later tutor. In her early
years, Sr. Grace taught first grade in her native Pittsburgh area, first
at St. Francis de Sales school (McKees Rocks) and then at St. Brendan
school (Braddock). She later served in Texas, Illinois, and throughout
Ohio before returning to Pittsburgh in 1979, where she lived until her
death.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Memorial gifts in Sister Grace's honor may be sent
to Dominican Sisters, St. Mary of the Springs, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus,
OH 43219.
