Coletta Giorgetti, OP
September 2, 1915 – December 22, 2004

On Wednesday, December 22, 2004, Sr. Coletta Giorgetti died at Mohun
Health Care Center. Born in Newark, OH, on September 2, 1915, to Fred
and Noemi (Simi) Giorgetti, entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters
of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1936 and made her Profession
of Vows in 1938. Sister served as principal at St. Francis de Sales Newark
from 1959 to 1965 and at Holy Trinity Somerset from 1968 to 1969.
Sr. Coletta received her B.S. from St. Mary of the Springs College (now
Ohio Dominican University). Her ministry was primarily in elementary education.
She was stationed in the Columbus Diocese at St. Thomas Zanesville (1958-59);
and at St. Francis de Sales School, Newark (1975 -87) and then was part
of the staff at St. Francis from 1988 until she retired in 2002. Sister
also ministered at Aquinas School in Steubenville (1973-75). Sister also
ministered in the Dioceses of Steubenville and Pittsburgh and at St. Martin
in Amarillo, TX.
She is survived by a brother George and sisters Minnie Andrews, Gussie
Ernest, Irma Gevault and Louise Ellis, a god-child Allison Ernest, and
many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The viewing will be in the Motherhouse on Wednesday, December 29, from
2 to 4 p.m. A Vigil Service of Remembrance will take place from 4:30 to
5:30 p.m. that day with the funeral liturgy at 7:00 pm. A Farewell Service
will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday followed by burial in St. Joseph's
Cemetery.
