Ann Joachim La Belle, OP
July 20, 1922– January 7, 2006
I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I shall live.

On Saturday, January 7, 2006, Sr. Ann Joachim La Belle died at Mohun
Health Care Center. She was born in Grosse Pointe, MI, on July 30, 1922,
to Frederick and Ellen (Powers) La Belle. She entered the Novitiate of
the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1941 and
made her Profession of Vows in 1942.
Sr. Ann Joachim received her B.S. from St. Mary of the Springs College
(now Ohio Dominican University). She ministered at St. Francis de Sales
School, McKees Rocks, PA (1943-45); St. Thomas School, Braddock, PA (1945-48);
St. William School, East Pittsburgh, PA (1949-53, 1980); St. Mark School,
Brooklyn, NY (1953-54); St. Brendan School, Braddock, PA (1954-55); St.
Thomas the Apostle School (1964-77); St. Clare of Montefalco School, Grosse
Pointe Park, MI (1977-79); St. Thomas Aquinas School, Zanesville (1980-82);
and at Christ the King School (1982-87). Sr. Ann Joachim spent many years
teaching in our mission schools in Santa Fe, NM (1952-53, 1960-64) and
in Amarillo, TX (1955-60).
Sister was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sisters,
Joan La Belle Cooney and Olive La Belle. She retired and did community
service at St. Clare of Montefalco Parish in Grosse Pointe Park, MI, before
coming to the Motherhouse as a receptionist in 1988. She had been a resident
at Mohun Health Care Center since 1999.
