On Saturday, July 9, 2006, Sr. Marilyn Williams died at Mohun Health Care Center. She was born in Steubenville, OH, on July 17, 1924 , to Thomas and Ellen (O'Keefe) Williams. She entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1943 and made her Profession of Vows in 1944.
Sr. Marilyn earned a BS from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University). In the Ohio, she taught first graders at Christ the King, Columbus (1948-51, 1961- 75) and Aquinas, Steubenville (1975-79) and was receptionist at the St. Francis–St. George Hospital in Cincinnati (now Mercy Health System) from 1979 to 1990. She also taught first grade at St. Brendan, Braddock, Pa (1944-46); Annunciation, New York, NY (1946-48); St. Vincent Ferrer, New York, NY (1951-52); St. Andrew Avelllino, Flushing, NY (1952-57) and St. Augustine, Ossining, NY (1957-61). Sister served as receptionist at St. Vincent Ferrer Convent in New York City from 1990 until 1999.
Sister was preceded in death by brothers Donald, Thomas, and Vincent and by sisters Mary Ellen and Rosemarie Williams. She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Williams, and a sister, Margaret Williams, and nieces and nephews. Sr. Marilyn came to live at the St. Mary of the Springs Motherhouse in 1999 where she visited the infirm sisters at Mohun Health Care Center. She joined the Mohun community in 2004.
