Teresita Watson, OP
February 15, 1936 - April 30,2008

On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Sr. Teresita Watson died at Mohun Health Care Center. She was born in Orange, NJ, on February 15, 1936, to Robert and Winifred (O’Connell) Watson. She entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1955 and made her Profession of Vows in 1957.
Sr. Teresita earned a BS from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MS from Hunter College of the City of New York. She was also certified in Montessori Education by the St. Nicholas Training Center. Sr.Teresita ministered at St. Albert, Pittsburgh, PA (1959-61); St. Mary Grade School, New Haven, CT (1961-66, 1982-84); Seven Sorrows, Middletown, PA (1966-68, 1971-72); St. Mary of the Springs, Montessori, Columbus, OH (1968-69); St. Augustine, Ossining, NY (1969-71); St. Mark, Brooklyn, NY (1972-82); and Sacred Heart, Coshocton, OH (1984-99, 2000 – 2008), where she served as principal from 1998 to 1999. Sr. Teresita loved teaching and spent 50 years instructing first and second graders.
She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank & Theresa and Bob & Louise, as well as many nieces and nephews and grand-nephews. She will be missed by her family, her religious community, and her many friends.
