Kateri McCaffrey, OP
August 22, 1923 - April 2, 2009

On April 2, 2009, Sr. Kateri McCaffrey died at Mohun Health Care Center. She was born in New York, NY, on August 22, 1923, to Thomas and Catherine (Herrick) McCaffrey. She entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1942 and made her Profession of Vows in 1944. Sister served as principal at St. William GS, East Pittsburgh (1962-65).
Sr. Kateri earned a BA from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MA from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Her ministry in education brought her to many schools:

Sr. Kateri was one of the original four sisters from the Congregation to open our mission in Chimbote, Peru in 1966. She retired and did volunteer services at the Motherhouse before coming to Mohun Health Care Center in 2009.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James, Fr. John, Fr. Thomas and Eugene, and her sisters Kathleen McKay and Maureen Maguire. She is survived by a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
