Sr. Adrienne (Mary Donald) Colson is celebrating her Golden Jubilee this
year as a Dominican Sister of St. Mary of the Springs, Columbus, OH.
Born to Desire and Grace (Singer) Colson, Sr. Adrienne grew up in St.
Ladislaus Parish, and graduated from St. Leo’s Grade School and
St. Mary’s High School. She attended St. Francis College in Joliet,
IL, and later earned a B.S. in Education from the College of St. Mary
of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican University), an M.Ed. in Religious
Studies from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI, an M.A. in Pastoral Counseling

National Association of Catholic Chaplains and for Pastoral Ministry Health
Care.
Sister Adrienne’s teaching ministry included St. Francis de Sales,
Newark; St. Anthony and Holy Name, Steubenville; St. Thomas and St. Philip,
Columbus; and St. Thomas, Zanesville; St. Brendan, Braddock, PA; and St.
Thomas, Abiquiu, and St. Anne, Santa Fe, NM. After 22 years in the classroom,
Sister changed ministries.
“I loved teaching,” she explains, “but later found
myself called to serve those who suffered physically as well as emotionally.”
She served as a Director of Religious Education in St. Petersburg, FL,
and later served for 22 years as a chaplain and professional counselor
for the State of Ohio at Mercy Hospital, Western Hills, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Now residing at the Motherhouse in Columbus, Sister is serving as pastoral
visitor to the infirmed Sisters at Mohun Health Care Center.
Describing herself as “joyful, hopeful, and compassionate,”
Sr. Adrienne invites anyone interested in religious life “to come
and see what the Lord has prepared for you.” |
