Sr.
Mary Faith Reaney, OP
Golden Jubilarian
50 years (July 9, 1955)
Golden Jubilarian Sr. Mary Faith Reaney grew up in St. Lawrence O’Toole
parish near Pittsburgh, where she attended both grade and high schools.
Taught by Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs, she was among
34 women who entered their community over the years from her parish.
Sister earned a BS from St. Mary of the Springs College in 1958 and an
MS from Duquesne University in 1964. Throughout her years of teaching
and administration, Sr. Mary Faith served on the elementary, secondary,
and college levels in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Connecticut, and New
York. She was pleased to have been assigned to her home diocese of Pittsburgh
at various times, where she served at St. Thomas District High School
(vice principal,1973-78; principal,1978-81) and Mt. Alvernia High School
(business teacher, 1985-91). Presently, she serves as an administrative
assistant to the Leadership Team at St. Mary of the Springs at their motherhouse
in Columbus, Ohio.
Over the years, the foundation of love nurtured in her childhood in Pittsburgh
has kept Sr. Mary Faith strong in her commitment, she says. “That
love gave birth to a love for my community, which is like a second family
to me,” she reflects. Sr. Mary Faith, who has always remained close
with family and friends from Pittsburgh and elsewhere, was overjoyed that
every member of her extended family came to Columbus from around the country
to celebrate her Golden Jubilee with her this year.
