Sr. Gail Morgan, OP Sr. Gail Morgan, OP

Silver Jubilarian
25 years (August 8, 1982)

Cleveland native Sr. Gail Morgan came to Ohio Dominican College (now University) to study biology. After graduating, she joined the congregation of Dominican Sisters who were her teachers and mentors there. "I was really drawn to the Sisters' dedication, faith, and especially their joy," she explains. "They were all individual, unique Sisters, but they shared this common joy in everything they did." Today Sr. Gail celebrates 25 years as a Dominican Sister of St. Mary of the Springs.

She earned a BS in biology and history from Ohio Dominican in 1979 and an MA in history from Villanova University in 1989. From the beginning of her religious life, Sr. Gail has ministered in high school settings, in the classroom and in administration. Over the years, she taught at De Sales (Columbus, OH), Catholic Central (Steubenville, OH), Fisher Catholic (Lancaster, OH), and St. Vincent Ferrer (New York, NY). In addition, she served as vice principal and later principal at Fisher Catholic, and in 1999, she accepted the position of principal at St. Vincent Ferrer, where she continues to minister today.

From the beginning of her religious life, Sr. Gail has ministered in high school settings and feels a strong dedication to Catholic secondary education. "As this age group moves into a more adult phase in their lives, there is great opportunity to work with them, to influence their lives for the better, and to learn from them, too," she shares. "They are just an enjoyable age group to interact with – and they can really give you a fresh outlook on things." Sr. Gail's dedication is evident in her work on behalf of her students over the years, from overseeing the renovation of facilities at Fisher Catholic to her recent implementation at St. Vincent Ferrer of a "twinning" program with a high school in Benin, Africa, and her many projects large and small in between.

In reflecting on her Silver Jubilee, Sr. Gail says she is grateful for her large family, whose love has supported her and whose faith has inspired her from a young age. She is also grateful for her religious family, the community of Dominican Sisters at St. Mary of the Springs who has helped sustain her in her religious vocation and in her enthusiasm over the years.
