Sr.
Michael Mary Naughton, OP
Golden Jubilarian
50 years (July 9, 1957)
This year, Sr. Michael Mary Naughton is one of seven Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs celebrating Golden Jubilees. Born in Braddock, PA, to Mary Margaret Finnerty and Michael Joseph Naughton, she grew up in St. William Parish in East Pittsburgh, where she was taught by the Dominicans who would later become her religious Sisters. She entered the Novitiate in 1955 and made first profession of vows in 1957.
Her years of ministry were chiefly in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Certified in Practical Nursing, Sr. Michael Mary served at the St. George Hospital in Cincinnati and at the Dominican Sisters' infirmary, Mohun Health Care Center, in Columbus. At the latter, she ministered as Pharmaceutical Assistant for 23 years.
"I enjoyed helping the Sisters with their questions and concerns about medication and their health. The Sisters relied on me to keep their diagnoses and their medications confidential. I never failed them," she proclaims. "I also ordered medical supplies and equipment for Mohun and for the Motherhouse Sisters. My fondest memories are of this ministry."
Retiring in 2005, Sr. Michael Mary is now a resident of Mohun Health Care Center and a member of the prayer ministry there. |
