Stay dreamers who act and move towards a vision. – Marjorie Tuite, OP |
The morning program consists of a presentation by keynote speaker Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz, who will address Margie's vision of social justice, followed by two respondents, Terry Hamilton and Ellen Dunn OP, who will elaborate on the vision. Conference participants will then share their social justice experiences with one another, making connections between Margie's vision and their own. After lunch, the afternoon session includes a prayer celebration of Margie's life, the testimonies of contemporary women on their experiences of being empowered, and a drafting of resolutions to support on-going social justice action in our personal and professional lives.
The timing of the conference is perfect, as noted social rights activist and writer Renny Golden has agreed to write Margie's biography for publication. Currently she is researching the 25 banker boxes of Margie's papers lodged at Loyola's Gannon Center for Women and Leadership. Recognizing the limitations of these documents to capture the whole person, Renny will lead a story telling session over lunch during the conference. If any of you have a story about Margie to pass on to Renny, come with it (if you have time, do write it down as well!) and pass it on to her at the conference.
