Ecology

Care of Creation is a value grounded in Catholic social teaching and embraced by the Dominican Sisters. Ecological issues are part of the social justice agenda of the Dominican Sisters. The sisters use the term "eco-spirituality" to reflect the spiritual dimension to the science of ecology.

Through prayer and study as well as through the local eco-spirituality center, Shepherd’s Corner, the sisters seek to witness to the care of creation, summed up by the words of Dominican Meister Eckhart:

"Creation is a revelation of God, a home for God, a temple for God. Creation is a grace, an overflow of the goodness and beauty that God is.”

Pope John Paul II Calls for
Responsible Use of World's Goods

Pope John Paul II has called for a "conversion" that leads to a responsible use of the world's resources, and he also praised the work of farmers for society. (Nov. 10, 2002)

The Pope has called for "a radical cultural change ... from the indiscriminate use of resources to a responsible administration of the goods offered to us by creation."
