Issue: Death Penalty

The Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs have long championed the abolition of the death penalty and passed a corporate stance on this specific issue in 1999. The Sisters pray for an end to capital punishment and voice their conscientious objections in letter writing. On days of executions, the bell tower at St. Mary's tolls, a symbol of opposition to the taking of human life.
