Daily ReflectionsLentReflections by Sr. Patricia Connick, OP To date I've been to Europe a total of three times. My first trip was a smorgasbord adventure to 16 different countries! Although it lasted forty days, it still felt like we stayed in a different place each night. I could relate to that saying, “If it's Tuesday, this must be Paris .” The second and third trips were each three weeks long, but were focused to a very limited geographic area. I felt as if I got to know the locals in those places at least by sight. Streets and parts of town that looked so strange on the first day began to acquire a familiar feel. I've enjoyed traveling abroad in two entirely different ways, one more overarching and introductory, and the other more focused and containing depth of experience. We have an opportunity this Lent to enter into the same type of journey within. Lent is divided into two roughly equal portions. The first “half” is a series of broadly written lessons on how to live the spiritual life and is from a variety of Scriptural sources; the second, focuses on building up to the Easter Triduum and uses Gospel readings exclusively from the Gospel of St. John. I wish you a sense of great adventure this Lenten season.
